You remember those days, don’t you? When your entire family gathered around the black and white to watch their favorite shows? (Your parents may even have been smoking, as portrayed in the photo above.)
What’s your favorite TV-show memory? From childhood? Your teenage years? Think back. I’ll bet you have a bunch of them!
I do remember seeing T.V. for the first time, in black and white of course and the test pattern was as entertaining as the programs. I think Howdy Doody was a big hit. I’m reminded of the movie Avalon which depicts the change in family values in conjunction with the development of television. Outstanding movie!
I used to love Howdy Doody, which is pretty odd given the fact that I have a dreadful fear of puppets, particularly marionettes. I also watched The Mickey Mouse Club religiously, and had a serious crush on Cubby.
Oh, Mickey Mouse Club, for sure. And Sky King. The Lone Ranger. Roy Rogers… and that funny Jeep with a mind of it’s own, Nellybelle!!
Rich…I’m loving recalling these memories!
